Our role is to drive visitation and expenditure through destination marketing and a strong pipeline of major, regional and business events to support the visitor economy.
Major Events Business Unit The Major Events business unit is responsible for delivering a world-class calendar of major and regional events.
It enhances Victoria's reputation through event acquisition, contract and relationship management, and event management.
About this Position This role is responsible for supporting the Manager Regional Events Fund (REF) coordinate the funding programs managed by the Major Events business unit, specifically funded by the Regional Events Fund (REF).
This role will also support the successful delivery of Regional Events where required.
In this role, you will:
Support the delivery of the Regional Event Fund program aligned with approved guidelines and implementation plans.Support the analysis of grant applications for regional events to ensure value for Victoria.Engage proactively with applicants and regional stakeholders to support the development of regional event opportunities.Manage the system and tools that track, reconcile, and report on the program and ensure compliance with Government directives, Cabinet committees, financial management and record-keeping.Prepare Ministerial briefings, funding agreements, manage the delivery of contractual benefits, maintain event deadlines, and contribute to submissions.Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, event stakeholders, RTB/VEP representatives and LGAs.Build and maintain strong internal relationships within Visit Victoria, collaborating across business units to achieve strategic objectives and comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) responsibilities.Other duties as directed.About you In a dynamic environment, you'll leverage your tactical thinking, strong writing and analytical skills, not to mention your keen attention to detail to stay ahead of the curve!
At the same time you'll be managing relationships with a range of stakeholders to deliver a world-class major events calendar that will grow Victoria's visitor economy.
To be successful you'll need:
Demonstrated understanding of and experience in the Events industry, Victoria's tourism brands, products and experiences.Demonstrated ability and understanding of planning and management of events and/or related projects, including the ability to manage contracts benefits and obligations.Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of Major Event and Government stakeholders and a commitment to work collaboratively across Visit Victoria.Experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting.
Ability to provide insights and analysis from event budgets and funding agreements.
Knowledge or experience of managing public sector funding and delivering grant programs is desired.Excellent level written and verbal communication skills, ability to present, persuade, advocate, negotiate and motivate and prepare correspondence, reports and briefs on complex and sensitive issues.Excellent conceptual and analytical skills, ability to resolve operational issues to achieve agreed outcomes, identify and advise on issues and improvements.
Ability to provide advice and proposed solutions for complex issues and situations.Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills and proven track record of managing senior stakeholders across a broad range of industries including negotiation skills.
Ability to manage senior stakeholders and high-value relationships.Ability to work well both in a team and individually, highly self-motivated and autonomous whilst having the ability to manage upwards and to flag potential risks, issues or challenges.Prior funding program experience will be well regarded.Why Join Us?
