Support the effective operation of the North Metropolitan Regional Aboriginal Advisory Committee.Fixed, Full-Time (Leave backfill until 31/12/2025) opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team.The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Executive Officer to provide a critical role within the Regional Aboriginal Advisory Committee (RAJAC) for the North Metropolitan Region.
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply. About the Business Unit The AJA has established extensive Government and Community networks through the Aboriginal Justice Forum (AJF), Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (RAJAC) Network and the Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committees (LAJAC) and uses them to effectively deliver initiatives including early intervention and prevention programs, diversion initiatives, and rehabilitation and reintegration support.
About the Role The primary focus of the Executive Officer is to support the effective operation of the Regional Aboriginal Advisory Committee (RAJAC) for the North Metropolitan Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety, and to ensure the active participation and engagement of the Aboriginal community in the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA).
The Executive Officer is responsible for the development and maintenance of supportive linkages between justice agencies and community organisations, providing policy advice, implementing the Regional Justice Plan, providing secretariat services to the RAJAC and promoting all AJA initiatives within the region.
The position is also a key member of the North and West Metropolitan Area Executive Leadership Team that has overall responsibility for the management and direction of regional operations.
Some of your duties will include:
Provide key support, secretariat services and advice to the RAJAC including the preparation of meeting papers, agenda, venue, catering and minute taking.Pro-actively build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and develop options for implementing innovative strategies to facilitate a partnership approach.Maintain regular contact with the Chairperson of the Northern Metropolitan RAJAC to uphold the partnership and implementation of AJA4.About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it.Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the Aboriginal community.Qualifications / Requirements Related qualifications and/or experience is desirable.A current full Victorian Driver's licence.This role will be flexible to work across locations within the North and West area.For further information about the benefits on offer at the Department of Justice and Community Safety, please visit: www.justice.vic.gov.au.
