Use your extensive experience to provide strategic advice and operational support for the Vere Gordon Childe Centre Part time 0.4 FTE or 2 days per week, fixed term until September 2026 Base Salary $108,557 - $118,267 + 17% superannuation (Pro-rata 0.4 FTE) About the opportunity The School of Humanities is seeking a part-time Executive Officer to provide strategic advice and operational support for the executive leaders of the flagship Vere Gordon Childe Centre.
As the Executive Officer, you will coordinate the implementation of operational plans and policy, ensuring compliance with University and Faculty research, student, ethics and external legislative/regulatory policies and procedures.
In this role, you will operate independently under broad supervision, prioritising tasks and providing expert guidance as the first point of contact. You will manage systems and processes to support Centre goals in research, education, communication, and compliance, ensuring a safe environment for all.
Due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement to be onsite for the 2 working days. Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide strategic planning, policy advice, and support to align the Centre's objectives with School of Humanities and broader University goals.Manage communication and stakeholder relationships to facilitate decision-making and policy development.Lead and guide staff, fostering alignment with strategic goals and promoting health, safety, and compliance.Optimise financial, human, and technological resources to efficiently meet the Centre's needs.Oversee governance, risk, and compliance to ensure alignment with University standards.Manage purchasing, payments, and invoicing to streamline administrative and financial operations.About you Previous experience working within a tertiary or large multifaceted organisation.Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills.High level of tact, diplomacy and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.Excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Working knowledge of various software programs such as Power BI, IRMA and/or Workday is desirable.Experience in applying policy within a University environment.Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: you must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
