Local Government Professionals Tasmania is looking for its next Executive Officer.
About us: Local Government Professionals Tasmania is the peak body for professionals working in local government across Tasmania. As the leading voice for local government professionals in the state, Local Government Professionals Tasmania represents managers and aspiring managers in the local government sector.
It offers a range of professional development activities, networking opportunities, and advocacy for its members. The organisation provides a Professional Development Pathway for individuals at all levels within local government, from newcomers to the sector to experienced General Managers. This pathway includes workshops, training programs, and conferences designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of local government professionals.
The organisation also plays a crucial role in representing the views of its members to both the Federal and State Governments. By facilitating communication and collaboration between members and relevant organisations, LG Professionals Tasmania helps to promote excellence and innovation within the local government sector.
About the Job: The role of the Executive Officer is to lead and support the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives and deliver value to its members. The role reports directly to the President of the Local Government Professional Tasmania Board of Directors.
This position is a full time two-year contracted position, that can be located anywhere in Tasmania. Flexible working conditions are available for the right candidate. The salary range is $100,000 to $110,000 plus super.
The duties of the Executive Officer include:
Working with the Board to ensure that Local Government Professionals Tasmania is well governed and sustainable. Assist the Board with the development, review, and implementation of LG Professionals Tasmania's strategic framework, including the strategic plan, annual operational plans, budgets, and policies. Manage the finances, resources, and operations (including business processes) of LG Professionals Tasmania to achieve the Board's strategic objectives. Oversee the Finance Officer and the delivery of Special Interest Groups, training offerings and the Annual Conference. Promote membership and develop strategies to increase membership of the Association. Manage LG Professionals Tasmania communications, networking, and professional development activities. By ensuring communication and information is provided to members through various channels such as email newsletters, the LG Professionals website, annual reports, social media platforms, and promotional materials. Explore potential alliances with sector agencies, service providers, and other professional associations to enhance member benefits and potential cost efficiencies for program delivery. About You: To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Demonstrated experience in growing membership in a membership-based organisation. Sound knowledge and understanding of Local Government and the political, legislative, and organisational environment in which LG Professionals Tasmania operates (or the ability to rapidly acquire). Experience at a senior management level in strategic planning, budgeting, and day-to-day operational management of financial and other resources. Experience and/or training in Board governance. Demonstrated capacity to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders. Excellent communication skills. High level of initiative and self-discipline. A current driver's licence.
