The roleAs the Executive Manager Sustainable Development, you will lead a dynamic team of 135 professionals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of our residents. Reporting to the Director of Liveable Communities, you will be at the forefront of driving sustainable growth and development in our region.
In this role, you will lead a team responsible for several key functions:
Development Assessment and Building CertificationEnvironmental Health and Regulatory ServicesNatural SystemsCustomer ExperienceKey ResponsibilitiesLead the planning and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing housing delivery and driving sustainable development initiatives across the MidCoast Council area.Advocate for policies that support sustainable development and improved housing accessibility.Oversee the implementation of the Housing Barriers Report, conducting thorough analysis to pinpoint areas for improvement while developing practical solutions that streamline processes and improve overall housing supply.Oversee and provide leadership to foster a culture of excellence in customer experience.Oversee conservation efforts and ecosystem management strategies to promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation throughout the region.Direct the management of environmental health and compliance in the region, ensuring the enforcement of regulations and standards to safeguard public health and environmental integrity.Manage the coordination of development application processing, focusing on enhancing team efficiency while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards.Serve as Council's advocate in various forums, adeptly representing its interests in meetings and public consultations.Provide dynamic leadership to a dedicated workforce of 135 staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in service delivery.Contribute as a member of our Senior Leadership Team and the Extended Management Executive (Ex - MANEX) team, setting goals, determining strategies, and building trust with stakeholders.What you'll bringWe are looking for an experienced development assessment professional who is a passionate leader to complement our existing workforce. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and attributes:
Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Town Planning or a discipline relevant to the role.Extensive industry experience at a senior level.Demonstrated knowledge of the professional and legislative requirements within the scope of the role is crucial for ensuring compliance and adherence to regulatory standards.Proven past performance in developing and managing high-performing teams, strategic planning, stakeholder management, and communication.High level analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to positively influence outcomes.Demonstrated well developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to develop strong relationships across the organisation and with key internal and external stakeholders.Strong political acumen.Salary: An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
