This Key role, based at our Parramatta Square office and reporting into the Executive Director of Business Western Sydney.As the Executive Manager, you have the responsibility for major projects, advocacy contracts, and managing the policy and advocacy team of Business Western Sydney.We manage a program to support our members through events, thought leadership, and advocacy, supporting collaborative approaches within precincts and taking an active role in the media on behalf of our members.Main responsibilities include:Manage the Policy & Advocacy team and support the execution of Business Western Sydney's advocacy strategy and media engagement plan.Support the Executive Director with the management of the Business Western Sydney Team and collaborate with other team members to ensure that the organisation's membership, financial, and advocacy goals are met.BWS runs over 40 events in Western Sydney each year ranging from boardroom lunches to larger high-profile events and conferences.The Executive Manager will collaborate with other team members in the coordinating of speakers, sponsors, and content. The Executive Manager will have a key role in shaping major Conference agendas and driving these events to a successful outcome for BWS and key stakeholders/members.Manage the Liverpool Innovation Precinct contract and provide secretariat services and other support for the steering committee at the direction of the Executive Director.This will entail scheduling monthly meetings of the steering committee, taking minutes and recording actions, organising meetings with key stakeholders, overseeing the production of supporting documents, liaising with the LIP Director, Investment & Innovation, and organising events.With over 40 events each year from boardroom lunches to large high-profile events and conferences, the Executive Manager, Policy & Advocacy will be required to make speeches and presentations, as well as act as MC and chair events as required.Business Western Sydney participates in several steering committees, taskforces, and panels by government and external organisations.The Executive Manager, Policy & Advocacy will be required to represent the Executive Director and Business Western Sydney.To be successful in this role, you will:Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with ministerial and departmental staff, and knowledge of the public policy process.Experience in policy development, research, and analysis.Understanding of the workings of the three tiers of government.Capability and experience in developing and implementing a strategic communications and influencing approach.Advanced written and oral communications skills, especially in relation to interacting with journalists and senior opinion makers and influencers.Comfortable in public speaking.Highly developed, persuasive written and oral communication skills, including a strong command of grammatically correct language.Understanding of policy issues impacting on business, with knowledge of the Western Sydney economy.Experience communicating and interacting with journalists and senior opinion makers and influencers.Ability to initiate stories across the range of BWS activities and to support the work of the chamber's media team.About the business:Business Western Sydney is a not-for-profit representing more than 130 of the region's largest organisations in business, industry, government, and community.Our advocacy priorities are to support greater public and private sector investment in Western Sydney to make the region a better place to work, live, play, and learn.Business NSW is an Australian independent, not-for-profit membership organisation that identifies the key issues impacting business and finds practical policy solutions to ensure businesses across New South Wales prosper and grow.The organisation has been operating since 1826.Learn more about Business NSW here:Benefits and perks:As a valued employee of Business NSW, you will have access to a wealth of company benefits including 22 days paid leave, paid parental leave, fitness passport, EAP access, health discounts, and salary packaging options.Business NSW is passionate about people and their stories.
