The West Daly Regional Council covers 14,000 square kilometres and is located about 300 to 420 kilometres south-west of Darwin.
The area is mainly rural, with three Indigenous communities at Peppimenarti, Nganmarriyanga and Wadeye which are managed by West Daly Regional Council (Council).
Position Summary: The Executive Manager is responsible for providing high-level executive support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as well as managing key functions such as grants, local authority coordination, governance, and communications.
The role will include overseeing the prioritisation and management of projects, coordinating strategic engagements, and ensuring effective execution of Council's operational and strategic goals.
Additionally, the Executive Manager will support the CEO in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Council policies and local government requirements, and leading communications efforts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Executive SupportProvide high-level executive support to the CEO and Mayor, including managing the CEO's diary, prioritising meetings, and coordinating travel and accommodations.Ensure the smooth running of Council/Committee meetings by preparing agendas, minutes, and coordinating meeting logistics within legislative timeframes.Handle incoming correspondence and emails, redirecting them as necessary, and following up to ensure timely and appropriate responses.Maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive matters, safeguarding information in line with Council's policies.Grants ManagementProvide leadership and strategic oversight to the Grants Coordinator, ensuring effective identification, application, and administration of strategic grants.Ensure that all grant-related activities are aligned with Council's priorities and that compliance with funding requirements is maintained.Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to ensure effective reporting, adherence to deadlines, and maximisation of grant opportunities.Local Authority Coordination and GovernanceManage and support local authority projects, ensuring they align with the strategic priorities of the Council and the needs of the community.Ensure compliance with governance practices, providing strategic advice on local government governance, policy adherence, and legislative requirements.Communications and Stakeholder EngagementProvide leadership and management to the staff responsible for internal and external communications, ensuring that they deliver clear and consistent messaging aligned with Council's objectives.Oversee the development and execution of the Council's communications strategy across all platforms, including press releases, newsletters, and reports.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organisations, and other external partners, to enhance collaborative efforts.Project ManagementAssist in the coordination and management of key projects for the Council, ensuring deadlines are met and objectives are achieved.Undertake various ad hoc projects and initiatives as required, ensuring they align with Council's broader strategic goals.Other Duties as RequiredThe Executive Manager may be required to perform other duties as necessary to support the operational needs of the Council.
This may include tasks outside of the specific areas mentioned, depending on emerging priorities.Qualifications and Other Requirements Tertiary qualifications in business administration or relevant work-related experience in a similar role.Experience in drafting high-level correspondence, reports for boards, and other critical documentation.Demonstrable experience communicating with a diverse range of key stakeholders.Able to travel to Council locations outside of Darwin by light aircraft or road transportation, with the flexibility to stay overnight as required.Current Northern Territory Driver's Licence.National Criminal History Check clearance.Current Working with Children/Ochre Card.Why Join Our Growing Team?
