The Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS) will provide clinical leadership focused on the interests of the Tasmanian community through strong medical leadership and the promotion of continuous improvement in local and state-wide clinical service provision.
The EDMS will do this by:
Providing specialist medical leadership to the organization on all aspects of its operation, with a particular emphasis on strategic policy and direction for the medical workforce and the quality and safety of patient care through effective clinical governance.
Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the Department of Health – North West (DoH) has major sites located approximately 50km apart.
The medical services across the North West region of Tasmania are based primarily at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) in Burnie and at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) in Latrobe, close to Devonport.
Salary and Benefits You will have access to a salary package including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
You will also have access to accommodation and relocation costs.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 – Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.
In addition, the following allowances may be available:

Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Holds or working towards Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA), or equivalent Post-Graduate health management qualification(s) Current Driver's Licence - Interstate and intrastate travel will be required The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment.
