Government - State (Government & Defence) Court Services Queensland (CSQ) is part of the Courts and Tribunals division within the Department of Justice and Attorney General (DJAG) . CSG supports Queensland's independent courts which are a crucial and fundamental cornerstone of civil society. The Magistrates Courts Service (MCS) sits within CSQ and is responsible for the operations of the Magistrates Courts state-wide and for supporting the operations of the Supreme and District Courts and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) outside South-East Queensland. MCS includes the Courts Innovation Program, which delivers people-centred, innovative, and culturally appropriate court programs including Murri Court, Court Link, the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court, the specialist domestic and family violence court program and the Community Justice Group grant program. As Executive Director you will use your exceptional leadership skills to lead MCS during a time of transformative change focussing on excellence in service delivery and improving access to justice. You will identify opportunities to improve, streamline and modernise systems and process operating in MCS and CSQ. You will be responsible for the administrative functions required to support the delivery of justice in Queensland's Magistrates Courts in line with relevant legislation, policies, and delegated authority, ensuring adherence to ethical decision-making principles and standards. You will have statutory duties as Principal Registrar under the Magistrates Act 1991. Specifically, you will: Provide exceptional strategic leadership of a complex and dispersed organisation with a focus on effective budget management and resource utilisation to drive improved service delivery and access to justice in the Magistrates Courts. Develop and sustain positive working relationships with the Chief Magistrate, Deputy Chief Magistrates, and other members of the judiciary and provide trusted advice to the Chief Magistrate on the efficient, effective, and proper operation of the courts. Foster effective collaboration and working relationships between MCS staff, the judiciary and the broader court and tribunal service. You will be responsible for a budget of $155M and leading more than 765 full-time equivalent staff located in 52 locations across the state delivering court services and supporting an independent judiciary. Together with the Courts and Tribunals executive leadership team you will champion an ambitious vision for change for court and tribunal services, fostering partnerships across government and non-government organisations to enhance the performance of the justice system and achieve quality outcomes for the community.
