Management (Community Services & Development)Strong administrative and management background, and interpersonal skills.Casual, part-time for 2½ days with flexible hours.The National Trust is seeking an Executive Director to run its office and provide a wide range of support and leadership within the organisation.About the ACT National TrustThe National Trust of Australia (ACT) is a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is 'To promote the conservation of, and foster public knowledge about, places, objects and issues that are significant to the heritage of the Australian Capital Territory.'The Trust plays an important advocacy role in the ACT and conducts a popular program of local heritage walks and talks, regional tours, and heritage events.The Trust is partly self-financing from membership fees (currently from 1700 members) but also receives an annual grant of $160,000 pa from the ACT Government to support a range of heritage activities.About The RoleThe ED is a new position which will replace the existing Manager position, the occupant of which is retiring. There are no other paid employees in the Trust, which operates as a volunteer organisation. However, one person with particular expertise is currently contracted one day a week and volunteers also work in the office from time to time.The ED is ex-officio a member of the National Trust of Australia (ACT) Council and the position is jointly funded from the Trust's own funds and from the annual heritage grant which the Trust receives from the ACT Government. The position is funded up until 30 June 2028.The position is based in the Trust's office in the Griffin Centre at 20 Genge Street in Canberra Civic.What We're Looking ForA strong administrative and management background.An ability and willingness to handle a wide range of work, including handling membership enquiries and office emails; managing the website; producing event flyers and handling event bookings; compiling and sending out a regular e-bulletin; preparing invoices for payment; preparing Council papers and minutes and sharing folders with Councillors; and liaising with related organisations.Attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.Good organisational and time management abilities and capacity for getting things done.Skills in Word, Excel, MYOB/Xero, Teams/Zoom, One Drive, and basic IT technology.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ranging from customer service skills for interactions with members, through to judgement and maturity for dealing with ACT Government staff, Trust Council members, and stakeholders.Must have a current Australian driver's licence and access to a motor vehicle.An interest and experience in heritage matters would be an advantage but is not essential and is seen as a lower priority than the ability to handle the key administrative and management aspects of the role.Why Join UsThe Trust operates in a highly collegiate and collaborative manner.The work is interesting and varied, though there is a necessary foundation of routine work.The salary package is $60,000 pa for 2½ days per week.
