Your role within Policy, Performance and First Nations will support the department to improve performance and achieve better outcomes for the State through the setting up and delivery of the departments and Government's long-term strategic reform agenda and objectives.

You will be part of Regulatory Services which is responsible for administering legislation that impacts on providers of community housing, residential services, manufactured homes, and retirement villages.

The Executive Director will lead the Regulatory Services unit in the oversight of a National Regulatory System for Community Housing within Queensland and establish and monitor performance against benchmarks for governance and viability of providers through financial and business performance.

What You Will Be Doing Ensure effective management and monitoring of the business area's budget in accordance with statutory responsibilities, government priorities and departmental policies and procedures.Identify the legal and risk implications associated with the registration of housing services and residential service providers and proactively manage any associated financial impacts.Lead, in partnership and collaboration with the private and non-government sectors, initiatives that build and sustain sector capacity and capability for the provision of residential services, manufactured homes and retirement villages.Provide high quality advice and analysis, information and guidance to the Minister; Director-General; Deputy Director-General on the administration of housing and accommodation regulatory schemes.Provide advice to and maintain productive relationships with Ministerial and departmental staff on the National Regulatory Scheme for Community Housing (NRSCH) and its implementation; and on the requirements of, and compliance with, the Retirement Villages Act 1999, the Manufactured Homes (Residential Parks) Act 2003, and the Residential Services (Accreditation) Act 2002.Collaborate across all tiers of government, community, NGOs and other key stakeholders to deliver on national and state commitments for the provision of national and state level housing regulatory matters.Work with the Australian, State and Territory Governments to implement the NRSCH and with Registrars in other jurisdictions to obtain information about best practice approaches to enhance the Queensland Government response.Provide advice on policy and operational issues relating to the ongoing management of reviews and investigations under Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 2003 and administrative appeals.Adopt a sector and national leadership role in regulatory forums that impact on, and contribute to, the social services and community services sector.Effectively monitor regulatory schemes for residential services, residential parts and retirement villages to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and taking appropriate action to redress performance issues.Lead the development of non-legislative initiatives and approaches that enhance the consumer experience and industry engagement across residential parks, residential services and retirement villages.Enhance and further develop effective cross-agency, community and stakeholder business partnerships and develop and guide a shared understanding of current and future needs relating to the Department's business direction.Foster a culture of collaboration within a high performing, high quality, outcomes-focused environment that supports the departments vision of ensuring all Queenslanders have a pathway to safe, secure, and affordable housing.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
