If yes, then we strongly encourage you to apply for the department's vacant APS 6 Executive Assistant role.The APS 6 Executive Assistant (EA) will be working to and supporting the Deputy Secretary/Senior Executive Services (SES) Band 3 for the Disability and Carers Stream. The Disability and Carers Stream is responsible for policy development and program management related to disability and carers, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).The EA to the Deputy Secretary is a position of trust that requires sound judgement, outstanding organisational and communication skills, a 'can-do' attitude, and the ability to juggle competing priorities. The EA filters and attends to the day-to-day administrative and coordination functions that support the Deputy Secretary's role, office and the broader Stream, so that the Deputy Secretary can focus on leadership, strategy, stakeholder and management functions.The EA works closely and collaboratively with the Executive Officer and Executive Support Officer to ensure the effective coordination of activities and workflow of the office, and directly with the SES to ensure priorities are met. The APS 6 EA will also provide mentoring and peer support to the Stream APS 4 and APS 5 EAs.We are seeking candidates who are motivated self-starters with strong initiative, organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide cross-section of both internal and external stakeholders.You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple competing priorities in a professional manner, with great attention to detail. The role is best suited to candidates who are customer focused, enjoy dealing with people and are good at managing multiple tasks and solving problems.This position requires a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.During peak periods, some additional hours or working outside of standard hours may be required.Eligibility / Additional Requirements:To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance:The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). Applicants also must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA.
