Position Description:
Are you an enthusiastic, professional, high performing and motivated individual?

We are looking to fill multiple APS 4 Executive Assistant roles throughout the department. We have 1 vacancy in Brisbane and several vacancies in Canberra. We are also looking to establish a merit pool of suitable candidates to fill future Executive Assistant vacancies.

The primary focus of the APS 4 Executive Assistant is to provide high-level support by undertaking moderately complex administrative activities and tasks for the Branch Manager (SES Band 1).

We are seeking candidates who are motivated self-starters with initiative, organisational skills and attention to detail. Candidates will have excellent people skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide cross-section of both internal and external stakeholders.

You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple competing priorities in a professional manner, with great attention to detail.

Experience as an Executive Assistant is not required, but the role is best suited to candidates who are customer focused, enjoy dealing with people and are good at managing multiple tasks and solving problems.
Eligibility / Additional Requirements:
To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.
Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance:
The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). Applicants must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA. The suitable applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information to fulfil this process.
