Fantastic casual opportunity to provide support with the facilitating of examinations at the University of Sydney. Multiple positions available – seeking flexible availability from 11th – 23rd November 2024 (weekend and evening shifts also available).
Paid training will commence the week beginning 28th October 2024, including an on-site training day.
HEO 4 Step 1 - $54.79 per hour plus superannuation.
About the opportunity The Exam Precinct and Presiding Officer works with the Exams Office in Student Administration Services (SAS) and will take a hands-on approach assisting the exams office in the efficient running of centrally managed examinations.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with a range of staff across the SAS portfolio and in the wider University environment to meet work objectives. As an Exam Precinct and Presiding Officer, you will work independently under the close guidance of the Examinations Office to ensure that exam activities are completed to strict deadlines, within the rules, regulations, and procedures of the University.
We are seeking multiple Exam Precinct and Presiding Officers to take on varying tasks to support with exam sessions throughout the year, including the upcoming examination period, which will run from 11th – 23rd November 2024. This role is ideal for an individual with flexible and full availability over this 2-week period (evening and weekend shifts also available).
If successful, you will also be required to undertake online training components from 28th October 2024. There will be mandatory on-site training days on Friday 01 November and Tuesday 05 November, pending on which role you are selected for.
Exam Precinct Officer
Exam Precinct Officers are the first point of contact on the ground and are responsible for providing guidance and support to exam supervisors, service room attendants, and students during examinations. On-site training day will be Tuesday 05 November. Presiding Officer (Alternative Exams)
Presiding Officers provide guidance and support to exam supervisors and students with exam adjustments in a group room. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that students' exam adjustments have been applied and that exams are running effectively and on time. On-site training day will be Friday 01 November. Your key responsibilities will be to: Actively monitor the conduct of examinations within an exams precinct or large venue to ensure exams are running effectively to University standards and procedures. Provide guidance to Exam Supervision staff regarding exam processes. Provide the first point of contact between the exam venue and the Exams Office and escalate any issues to the Exams Office. Oversee the set-up of venues, materials provided, and exam papers are correct for exam venues before exam sessions commence. Assist in the monitoring and supervision of Exam Supervisor's attendance and performance. Facilitate the ID checking processes for students who do not have appropriate ID. Respond to a range of enquiries from staff and students. Perform work activities relevant to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the Exams Coordination Officer and commensurate to the role's classification level. About you Previous experience with supervising/invigilating examination sessions and student administration experience in centralized examinations area within a tertiary environment. Experience in handling a large volume of enquiries and administrative workload within a highly regulated area, deadline-driven and customer service focused environment. Experience in the provision of excellent customer service, together with well-developed written and verbal communications skills within a strong customer service focused environment. Working knowledge of University reporting and record management systems. Advanced computer skills including the MS Office suite. Excellent attention to detail. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods. Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
