Role Purpose The role holder will be based in Sydney, focussing on expanding and growing Everest's Property Portfolio and producer relationships. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a key role in driving the achievement of our objectives for profitability, growth, service excellence, and producer relations, specifically focusing on the Sydney placement market but also across Australia and the Pacific region.
Core Responsibilities: Your main responsibility will be to act as technically minded development underwriter, bringing your extensive expertise in Property products to assess risks and make informed decisions that align with our strategic goals. Your ability to analyse complex underwriting data, identify potential opportunities, and mitigate risks will be instrumental in our continued success and expansion. Expanding the Property account in line with overall business appetites, controls, underwriting strategy, and guidelines, always maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit. Building strong and lasting relationships with major customers and brokers is critical aspect of this role. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will help you foster trust, understand their needs, and deliver tailored solutions that exceed expectations. Underwrite and price Property risks, in various forms of Primary, Excess of Loss and Quota Share, and determine the acceptability of these complex risks both in terms of catastrophe, risk and compliance exposures. Prepare quotations and formal proposals on new and renewal business. Bind various coverages subject to authority level and promptly respond to inquiries from all producers and internal colleagues alike. Ensure that documentation is completed timely and accurately according to EGM or Company standards. Assist with the development and evolution of divisional pricing, accumulation, Catastrophe Management assessments and other line related requirements as necessary and to support Country and Line management. Effectively communicate with management on all issues both within and outside the Unit as needed and interact and coordinate activities with other departments (e.g. Claims, Loss Control, and Accounting). Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and / or carry out responsibilities and / or administrative activities. Purchase acceptable Facultative Reinsurance where applicable and in line with management requirements. Ensure Everest core value commitments are understood and upheld. Candidate Profile: Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with all levels of Everest personnel as well as in dealing with agents, brokers and clients. Full understanding of the Insurance Industry and how Client/Broker/Insurer relationships operate. Proven analytical skills necessary to judge the desirability of complex or unusual risks within Property segment. The ability to be able to respond appropriately to all levels of Clients/Brokers and Everest personnel. Demonstrated skill in PC software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Outlook and new software as it applies to the position. Experience: Previous Insurance experience essential – minimum 5 – 10 years. Preferably Property and Commercial lines experience.
