Events Team Leader- Professional Development (1 year Fixed term contract)We are seeking an experienced Event Manager to work in-house at a professional membership-based organisation, located in Sydney's CBD.
Responsible for leading the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) internal event team in delivering a range of high-quality live and virtual educational courses, events and conferences.

The role:
The purpose of this role is to manage the operational side of the educational events calendar, ensuring that all logistics, processes, and team coordination are in place for smooth event execution.
You will report to The Head of Professional Development, working closely with the Specialist Accreditation team, Educational Designers, and other key stakeholders to ensure each event meets both educational and operational standards.
Your role will also involve managing a team of 3 event coordinators.
The ideal candidate will have a background in professional services, a proven track record in managing events, and experience with online event platforms.
A strong leadership presence is required, as you will be managing a small team and coordinating multiple moving parts to deliver exceptional events.Ensure the smooth running of a set calendar of 150+ events per year, including courses ranging from 1 hour to 3 days, as well as the Specialist Accreditation conference, a large multi-day event for 400+ attendees.
Handle everything from logistics and vendor management to ensuring high-quality delivery and customer service.Oversee and support a small team, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, workflows are efficient, and deadlines are met.
Foster a collaborative, solution-focused working environment.
You'll also play a key role in managing team bonding and social events.Work closely with the Specialist Accreditation team and educational designers to ensure that content and program delivery align with the event objectives and educational standards.You will be responsible for managing online event delivery using platforms such as MS Teams for webinars and Law Inform for course management.
Previous experience in online learning and event management software is essential for tracking progress and ensuring seamless online learning experiences.Serve as the main point of contact for internal teams, external vendors, and sponsors.
Ensure sponsors' needs are met during events and that all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
Work closely with the marketing team to ensure events are promoted effectively.Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including venue coordination, catering, technical support, and speaker management.
Ensure events adhere to established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Candidate Profile:Minimum 3-5 years proven end-to-end corporate event management experience in a professional services organisationHigh level of customer service is essentialMust have managed a team or demonstrated leadership experience in a relevant operational role, ideally having directly managed a minimum of 2 staffA strong background in managing online events, including webinars and online training courses.Familiarity with platforms such as Moodle, Law Inform, or other education tracking systems is highly desirable.Experience with Cvent, EventsAIR, or similar event management platforms would be an advantage.Experience using marketing automation software (e.g., Marketo) to assist with event promotions and communications.Proven track record of managing complex events, from small courses to large conferences, with a strong focus on operational delivery and customer service.Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills are essential.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams, external vendors, and members.Must be adaptable and ready to pivot quickly, particularly during peak event periods.
