The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
We are seeking new casual team members to join our Events Team at Sovereign Hill. The role will see the successful applicants assist the Events Team during busy periods, such as school holiday programs, major events, and additional support events. Responsibilities encompass event setup, execution, and teardown. These events range from recurring regular events to significant larger events potentially spanning multiple locations and occurring outside typical hours of operation. The role will also require the professional and informative welcome of guests and visitors, to ensure they are given the required support and information that they require.
These roles will ideally suit applicants with the following competencies:
Previous experience within a tourism or customer service environment would be highly regarded.Presenting/Public Speaking/Interpreting experience is preferred but not essential.Demonstrated time management skills including the ability to prioritise and work within tight timelines.Basic knowledge on the use of hand tools and OHS requirements is preferred but not essential.Ability to work flexible and additional hours, after hours, as and when required. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a team of events professionals, and enjoy job variety in the successful set up, delivery and pack down of Sovereign Hill events.
Due to the often physical nature of the role, a pre-employment medical will be required to ensure the incumbent is capable of carrying out the inherent requirements of the position
Child Safety and Criminal History Checks – Sovereign Hill is committed to child safety. We want children to be safe, happy and empowered. We support and respect all children as well as our staff and volunteers. Our recruitment and selection processes ensures certain pre-employment screening and compliance clearances are undertaken before employment is offered.
If you apply for a role with Sovereign Hill you will be asked to make certain declarations regarding OHS, Child Safety and you will also be required to complete a National Police Check and attain a valid Working with Childrens' Check.
Diversity and Inclusion – Sovereign Hill welcomes and encourages applications from diverse backgrounds and provides equal opportunities to all who wish to apply.
