The Role Working closely with the Group Head Strategic Communications and Engagement, this is a crucial role to the organisation's events, awards and sponsorships as well as event-related components of SSI social enterprises, government-funded programs and special projects. This role has day-to-day contact with the Communications, Government Relations, Policy & Research and Program Teams, plus lots of interaction across the business, with Volunteers, Community Engagement and Arts & Culture. The Events Producer is an integral position adding value to the amplification of business strategy and program objectives.
You will be able to identify and execute opportunities to promote and publicise all events, sponsorships and awards to our audiences, as well as supporting the effective delivery of PR opportunities. In this role, you will also Chair the Sponsorship Committee, managing national and interstate activities and keeping the Events Calendar up to date. Travel between offices across Qld, Vic and NSW will be required on occasion for activities across all geographical areas of our organisation. This is a full-time contract position until October 2025.
Responsibilities include:
End-to-end development, curation and execution of launches, online panel discussions, VIP and Government visits, media announcements, Arts & Culture festivals, exhibitions and events where SSI is the key sponsor plus major internal events supporting the internal communications and people and culture teams as required. In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team, help design and coordinate the promotion and publicity surrounding the events. Engage with the Group Head, program managers, and designated working groups and committees in relation to specific "communication-team or Office of the CEO owned" events. Coordinating briefing materials, run sheets and orders of proceedings as well as the distribution of these materials as appropriate.
About You You are a hands-on Events Producer and every event, minor or major, has the same passion from you. You have complete ownership for "your" events, seeing your event come successfully to an end is paramount to you, so you have sight of everything going on to make the event happen. Adaptability is key and you will be someone who can easily handle high-pressure environments, fluctuating workloads, and priorities.
At least 3-5 years previous Event Management and PR experience. Tertiary education in Event Management, Public Relations or Communication is desirable but not essential. Experience managing large-scale events with strong project management skills, ability to prioritise deadlines and facilitate end-to-end projects, briefing to debrief. A great communicator at all levels with experience implementing civic protocol. Strong written, verbal and administrative skills with well-developed presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. Experience managing digital event invitations to internal and external corporate events with experience working with event registration platforms such as Eventbrite, Humanitix and Mailchimp. You have a keen interest in the NFP space and government relations, with a good understanding of marketing/communication principles. Experience working in a multicultural environment is highly desirable. Strong computer literacy with Microsoft and database applications including Salesforce. Drivers Licence essential as frequent travel required in/around the Sydney area.
