ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Events and Culture team deliver an annual program of welcoming community events celebrating Cumberland's rich cultural tapestry and food cultures including Lunar New Year, Australia Day, Easter, Ramadan Street Festival, Diwali and the crowd favourite, Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival. 
The team have been nominated in the 2022 FBi Radio SMAC Awards for the Best Arts Program, and operate one of Western Sydney's newest contemporary art spaces, the Granville Centre Art Gallery which presents arts, culture and events projects, programs and initiatives designed to increase social cohesion, enhance and activate Cumberland's places.
Council is seeking an Events Officer to support the design, development and delivery of events. This is a great opportunity to play a big part in a small team reporting to the Events Coordinator working on a variety of events across the annual events program including Council's signature event the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival.
The Events Officer provides specialist skills and supports a range of event related activities, in the key areas of:
Event Delivery and Programming Operations, Logistics and Production Administrative Support You'll join the Events and Culture team to develop and deliver events projects, programs and initiatives designed to connect communities with one another and with Cumberland's great local places. The successful applicant will require:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Event Management or related industry experience in the delivery of events.  High level administrative and organisational skills. Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills. Strong knowledge of Work Health & Safey and Risk Management. About this role: Permanent, full-time position 70 hour fortnight/week Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement Located at Council's Merrylands office with occasional and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
