Join a dedicated team that add vibrancy to our community Support planning and delivery of innovative and engaging community experiences Temporary role up to 12-months LET'S EXPLORE THE JOB We have two exciting opportunities for experienced and energetic Events and Festivals Officers to join our vibrant and active Arts Culture and Tourism department for a temporary contract.
The position will work within a small team to ensure the successful delivery of the Events and Festivals Strategic Action Plan 2024-2028, by delivering a vibrant, exciting and successful events and festivals annual program that supports tourism and economic development for the city.
Your key focus areas will be:
Review and assessment of events, festival and film license applications in accordance with Council guidelines. Provide expert advice to local event organisers and build their capacity to run safe and successful events in our LGA through the development and implementation of events and festivals policies, procedures and toolkits. Liaison with external stakeholders and stallholders including community groups, local businesses, professional event organisers, suppliers, and local and state agencies regarding events and festivals management within the LGA. The planning, organisation and delivery of a range of exciting and engaging major events and festivals, including working with internal teams to develop marketing, media and promotional strategies. Assist in identifying alternate funding sources such as corporate sponsorship, state and federal funding, and other sources to support the delivery of Council-led events and festivals. May operate across departmental service delivery, Monday through to Sunday 6am – 11pm. Working across ACT facilities and/or the Administration Building and event locations within the LGA. Spending periods of time working outdoors, in the delivery of council-led events and festivals in varied weather conditions. High levels of manual handling and moving and installation of event equipment and signage. LET'S HEAR ABOUT YOU You have strong organisational and communication skills with an ability to effectively manage multiple aspects of event planning and delivery. Your excellent attention to detail helps in ensuring that every element runs smoothly.

You will specifically meet the below criteria:
Tertiary qualifications in Events Management (or a related discipline). Demonstrated experience in Event and/or Festival planning and delivery. Class C Drivers Licence. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines to a high standard of accuracy and consistency. Comprehensive interpersonal and public relations skills with the ability to work within a team environment. Experience in the review and assessment of event licenses or approvals. Understanding and experience of legislative requirements that impact on events including WH&S, risk management, insurance, traffic, permits and licensing.
