Job Description Randstad Darwin is seeking a highly motivated and skilled community event coordinator to join a dynamic team within a local Government Department.
Role: Level 5 Event Officer
Salary: $54.11p/hour + potential overtime
Contract: Casual for 3 months
Hours: Full time Monday to Friday
Location: Darwin based role
About the Role Assist the Community Events Coordinator in developing, coordinating and organising community events, activities and programs in the Palmerston Municipality, with the aim of increasing participation of the council residents and building community capacity.
Assist the Community Events Coordinator with planning and logistics of Council events. Assist the Community Events Coordinator to develop and implement strategies to promote Council events and programs. Manage all aspects of event planning including site plans, risk assessments, run sheets, and vendor coordination. Conduct post-event evaluation and provide recommendations for improvements. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and licensing requirements for events. Develop and maintain effective relationships with community stakeholders. Work alongside other Council departments to create and deliver engaging activities and events for community members. Independently plan logistics and deliver events e.g., Citizenship Ceremonies, Picnics, Live at the Lake. Assist Media with the promotion of Council events. Maintain relevant databases for information, process invoices and carry out other administrative tasks as required. What You Need Relevant vocational qualifications such as Event Management, Project Management and/or experience in event or project management. Demonstrated strong organisational and event coordination skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for events. Ability to solve problems by exercising and analysing the available options. Demonstrated experience in project management within time and budget constraints. Proven experience in working in collaborative partnerships with local, state and federal governments, non-government organisations, contractors and the community. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.
