Your role at St John of God Health CareYou will be responsible for working with the Group Manager Formation and Ethics (GMF&E) to identify current and emerging ethical matters within SJGHC and provide organisational responses aligned with Catholic ethical standards.
You will work with key internal and external stakeholders to understand and research contemporary ethical issues and develop resources, including formation programs, to enhance ethics capability within SJGHC.
The PositionProvide ethical guidance and support to caregivers in clinical and organisational decision-making.Contribute to ethics case reviews and discussions.Deepen the organisation's understanding of the Catholic ethical tradition through the development of resources for communicating and responding to ethical matters.Contribute to the development of ethical literacy amongst caregivers across SJGHC.Provide research and specialised guidance on ethical issues, such as voluntary assisted dying, palliative and end of life care, surrogacy and reproductive issues and care of the transgender patient.Develop formation programs that educate caregivers about SJGHC's Vision, Mission and Values, the Catholic Code of Ethical Standards in alignment with SJGHC's Formation Policy and Leader Formation Framework.Facilitate workshops, seminars, and formation sessions including on topics related to ethics and clinical decision making.Conduct quality improvement research for the provision and improvement of ethics formation and education.Collaborate with leaders and caregivers to ensure ethical considerations are integrated into all aspects of care.Work with interdisciplinary teams to address ethical matters and promote best practice.Promote ethical decision-making throughout SJGHC.Assist in the development and review of SJGHC policies to ensure alignment with the Catholic Health Australia Code of Ethical Standards.Present findings and recommendations to executives, caregivers and stakeholders as required.Liaise and engage with external subject matter experts and relevant institutions in relation to ethical matters.Attend meetings, forums and conferences as required by the Group Manager Formation & Ethics.You will have demonstrated capacity to articulate and integrate the Vision, Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care into everyday actions and behaviours.
You will have ability to articulate and integrate Catholic theology and ethics into organisational processes and practices, with consideration of people with a broad range of faith and cultural beliefs and have demonstrated ability to respond to complex ethical matters and develop resources to enable and embed Mission aligned practice.
You will have strong analytical skills with the ability to present findings in written and verbal communications and experience in the delivery of effective formation and/or adult training programs.
You will demonstrate excellent relational skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels of this organisation.
To succeed you will be Catholic and/or have demonstrated knowledge and experience of, and commitment to, Catholic faith, culture and practices along with a Tertiary Qualification in Theology and/or Ethics, or progress towards.
It is highly regarded if you have experience in Catholic health care or community services particularly in ethics or mission roles.
