The roleAs the Estimator within UGL's Utilities Division, you can be based in either our Brisbane or Sydney office.
Your focus will be substations and you will be responsible for providing estimating expertise for current tenders and proposals ensuring they are accurate and timely.
You will also be responsible for building estimates across a wide range of tenders, utilising UGL's estimating software, CATS.
Key responsibilities of this role include:First principles estimating providing accurate cost estimates for labour, plant & equipment, materials and subcontractor pricingCollaborate with internal technical experts to gather information in preparation for tendersResponsible for the estimate lifecycle i.e.
pricing structure establishment, pricing development, maturing the estimate, estimate finalisation and checks and conversion of estimate into work breakdown structure (WBS)Complete final submission for presentation to the clientConsult with operational areas to determine the accuracy of tendersEnsure compliance is adhered to for all record-keeping associated with the tendersRecommend and update procedures and programs to improve the estimating functionProvide budget breakup advice to our current projectsMaintain regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure pricing and product availability are up to date and accurateAbout youThis role will suit an Estimator ideally with electrical experience at transmission voltage level.
You will need to have keen eye for detail, a focus on accuracy, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Other requirements that will see you succeed include:
A degree or diploma in engineering will be desirable or a relevant trade certificate with experienceAt least five years of experience in project related disciplines will be desirableExperience in establishing estimates for power utilitiesExperience with estimating substations, switchyards and transmission lines at transmission voltage range of 66kV to 500kVExperience with Expert Estimation, CCS or CATS are desirableWillingness to learn and use CATS as UGL uses this software onlyStrong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to establish effective working relationshipsCustomer focused, team oriented, accountable and results drivenThe ability to adapt, learn quickly and apply new skills and knowledgeWhat we offerDiverse opportunities to grow, back yourself and achieve.
