Job Description Position: Estimator

Company: Tier 3 Main Contractor

Location: Perth, Western Australia

Salary: $160,000 - $190,0000

Reporting to: Estimating Manager

About Our Client Our client is a highly regarded Tier 3 main contractor with a strong foothold in the Western Australian construction industry. Specializing in commercial projects up to $30M, they have built a reputation for delivering high-quality, government-related works and essential infrastructure projects. The company operates with a small to medium-sized team, ensuring personalized service and attention to detail on every project. With over 50 employees, including 18 office staff and 2 dedicated estimators, our client maintains a dynamic and efficient operation.

Renowned for their expertise in handling government contracts, they regularly undertake projects such as schools, libraries, healthcare facilities, and cultural precincts. Additionally, they work on industrial and commercial developments, serving a broad range of clients throughout Western Australia. Their head office is conveniently located in South Perth and they have the capability to manage projects across the entire state, including regional areas.

Difference What sets our client apart from other contractors is their unwavering commitment to quality and their strategic focus on the sub-$50M project range. This niche focus allows them to concentrate on projects that are the lifeblood of the construction industry in Australia. Their specialization in government-related works provides a stable stream of projects, ensuring job security and consistent opportunities for their employees.

Our client's strong brand presence in the industry is backed by their impressive four+ year employee retention rate, nearly double the industry average over the past two years. This achievement highlights their ability to maintain a happy and motivated workforce. Employees appreciate the supportive and collaborative work environment, where there is no pressure to immediately win projects. Instead, the company fosters a culture of teamwork and collective success.

Furthermore, our client's dedication to quality over quantity means that they are selective about the projects they take on, ensuring that each one meets their high standards. This approach not only enhances their reputation but also provides a valuable learning experience for their estimators, who can sharpen their skills and gain expertise in winning critical projects. The company's focus on fully documented lump sum costings, rather than design and construct (D&C) contracts, suits traditional estimators who excel in costing.

Company Size and Structure Our client is a small to medium-sized contractor with around 50 employees, including circa 20 office members and 2 in the Estimating team. The successful candidate will join this close-knit team, contributing to their continued success and growth.

Team Dynamics The Estimating team at our client is collaborative and supportive, working together on tenders to ensure the highest quality submissions. As part of a small team, the successful candidate will find a friendly, diverse, and outgoing work environment where everyone is committed to achieving great results together.

Key Responsibilities Work on competitive tenders, primarily focusing on lump sum costings Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for projects ranging from $5M to $40M Collaborate with the Estimating Manager and team to ensure high-quality submissions Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors Software Requirement Proficiency in CostX and EstimateOne is essential.
