About the Position The Estimator at ACG Integration plays a crucial role in providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for security system projects.
This includes interpreting project documentation, conducting site assessments, and preparing detailed take-offs, estimates, and proposals.
Responsibilities: Review project documentation, including specifications, drawings, and contracts, to understand the scope of work.Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information on current conditions and project requirements.Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for security systems, including equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractor costs.Engineer systems in accordance with business/project requirements, including storage/bandwidth calculations.Develop take-offs and bills of materials for new installations and retrofits.Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and industry regulations.Proposal Development:Collaborate with the sales team to prepare comprehensive and competitive bids and proposals.Provide technical input to ensure proposals meet client specifications and project requirements.Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current products, industry trends, and pricing to ensure competitive and accurate proposals.Supplier and Vendor Management:Source and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes for materials and services.Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of materials.Manage pricing catalogues, prebuilds and take-offs.Cost Analysis and Reporting:Develop Project Budgets and collate all necessary project documentation.Perform cost analysis on completed projects to compare actual costs with estimated costs.Provide reports to management on estimation accuracy and project cost performance.Continuously improve estimating processes and tools based on feedback and project outcomes.Work closely with project managers, engineers, and technicians to understand project specifications and ensure estimates are accurate and feasible.Attend pre-bid and post-bid meetings to provide estimation input and clarify any questions regarding the proposed costs.Documentation:Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and associated project documentation.Update the CRM system and other tools with estimation data, project details, and supplier information.About the skills required Analytical Skills - Strong ability to analyse project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.Attention to Detail - Ensures all aspects of the estimation process are completed accurately and comprehensively.Industry Knowledge - In-depth understanding of the security systems industry, including relevant technologies, materials, and labor requirements.Communication Skills - Ability to clearly explain and justify estimates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Time Management - Capable of managing multiple estimation projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.Vendor Management - Experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing.Technical Skills - Proficiency in Simpro estimation software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.Qualifications and System Knowledge or Experience: Education - A relevant technical security qualification in security systems, construction, or engineering (preferred).Experience - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an estimating role, preferably within the security systems, construction, or technology sectors.Certifications - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Security Industry Certificates, IT or Electronics certifications) are a plus.System Knowledge and Qualifications which are highly desirable – Genetec Omnicast and Synergis, Gallagher, Milestone, Lenel, Integriti.Experience with Simpro – developing Estimates, quotes, managing catalogues, prebuilds and take-offs.Experience in Takeoff software – (Desirable) Bluebeam, Ground plan, Plan Swift or similar take-off software solution.About You If you are motivated by the opportunity to work as part of a team but also enjoy working autonomously this is the role for you.
