Key Responsibilities: Accurate Cost Estimation:Analyse drawings, and specifications to determine the materials, labour, and time required for fabrication and machining jobs.Quotation Preparation:Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive quotes for a range of custom fabrication and machining services.Cost Analysis:Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.Sales & Client Engagement:Proactively engage with potential and existing clients to build lasting relationships, understand their needs, and identify opportunities for new business. Assist in driving sales efforts by providing exceptional customer service and tailored solutions.Bid Submissions:Manage the submission of competitive bids, ensuring compliance with deadlines and requirements.Job Coordination:Work closely with production teams to ensure estimates align with job timelines and budgets.Risk Management:Identify and manage potential risks associated with costs, timelines, and job scope.Continuous Improvement:Stay updated on industry trends, cost strategies, and new technologies in fabrication and machining to optimise our estimating processes.Qualifications: Experience:Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating within the machining or fabrication industry.Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of fabrication and machining processes, materials, and industry standards. Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings.Sales Acumen: Proven experience in business development and sales, with a focus on building long-term relationships and identifying new revenue opportunities.Estimating Software Proficiency: Experience in estimating software and tools (e.g. MS Excel, etc.) and the ability to efficiently navigate these systems to create accurate and competitive bids.Problem Solving & Analytical Skills:Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying cost-saving strategies, efficiencies, and risk management solutions.Communication:Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure job success.Detail-Oriented:Unmatched attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring that every estimate is precise and aligns with both the technical specifications and client requirements.Time Management:Ability to juggle multiple jobs and deadlines efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.About Upton Engineering and Manufacturing: UEM is a dynamic and innovative manufacturing company known for its precision engineering solutions.
