Their governance is supported by a volunteer Committee of Management with diverse skills, continually pushing for innovation within the circular economy.
About the Role As the ERS Business Manager, you will lead a dedicated and passionate team and play a critical role in driving business growth, expanding the supplier base and supporting sustainable practices to advance the circular economy initiatives. Reporting directly to the Committee of Management, your key responsibilities will include:
Delivering an exceptional customer experience across all business operations. Promoting the significance of recycling and sustainability within the circular economy. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including the City of Greater Bendigo. Leading, motivating, and managing a dedicated team to implement best-practice recycling services. Assisting with the setup and implementation of the Council's Waste & Recycling Module. Managing customer requests (CRMs) and ensuring timely processing by Waste Management Services for external contractors or internal teams. Overseeing active cases and supporting the completion of CRMs and Work Orders, along with related administrative tasks. Supervising 15+ staff members and 8 waste collection vehicles to ensure efficient, safe, and timely fulfillment of contract requirements. Managing staff rosters, resource allocation, training, and leading a diverse team effectively. About You We are looking for a dynamic leader with the following experience and skills:
Experience in branch, regional, or state management, ideally within the waste industry. A proven track record of success in the waste management sector would be desirable. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to develop and execute strategic business plans. Experience in leading teams and fostering a positive workplace culture. Established networks and connections within the waste industry. Strong budget management skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and driving organizational excellence. Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management:
Develop and maintain a high-performing team culture, setting clear objectives and creating development pathways. Lead by example, fostering trust and engagement across all levels of the organization. Implement strategies for recycling, waste minimization, and circular economy practices. Oversee climate change adaptation and mitigation projects for the Council and community. Strategic & Business Performance:
Develop and manage unit budgets to ensure alignment with broader organizational goals. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to guide decision-making. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
Engage effectively with internal teams, contractors, government authorities, and the community. Deliver high-quality reports and presentations on initiatives, programs, and outcomes. Skills & Qualifications Experience in municipal waste management, infrastructure services, or contract management. Proven leadership experience with a track record of inspiring and managing teams. Strategic thinker with the ability to navigate complex environments. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to a variety of audiences.
