Location ProfileHoppers Crossing Secondary College opened in 1984 and is a single campus, co-educational college with an enrolment of approximately 1,500 students.
Situated in an urban growth corridor, approximately 20 minutes west of Melbourne, we welcome students from Years 7 to 12, from Hoppers Crossing and the surrounding district.
The College places great importance on developing innovative and challenging educational programs, through which young people recognise the value of growth through learning.

A diverse range of innovative educational, co-curricular and enrichment programs are offered across Years 7 to 12.
These programs include the Estancia High School Exchange Program, Chinese Overseas Learning Experience, Italian Language Immersion Program, Wakakirri Competition, Inter-School Sports, Year 7 and 10 Scholarship Programs, Student Representative Council, Youth Parliament, High Resolves Student Leadership and Work Experience Programs.
Additionally, Year 11 and 12 Enhancement Studies make it possible to incorporate TAFE certificates and University studies within the VCE program as a result of strong partnerships with a range of tertiary institutions.
The College prioritises ICT across the curriculum with the inclusion of: interactive whiteboards or media projectors in every classroom, Apple Mac laboratories and a 1:1 Netbook Program.

Role· Conducts routine scientific, technical, or specialist procedures and/or data collection, collation, and analysis.
· Applies basic technical knowledge to diagnose and correct faults and problems with technical equipment.
· Applies basic technical and/or scientific principles to enable the performance of a variety of interrelated technical tasks.
· Application of specialised knowledge is confined to a specific functional area (e.g.
science laboratory, information or food technology support, library).
· Provides specialised knowledge that is relied upon to deliver support services, under direction (e.g.
information technology and technical support in science laboratories, food technologies and libraries).
· Contributes to a small project team providing technical support to a school/s.
· Conducts training and/or instruction with respect to technical systems or scientific processes.
· Prepares experiments or use of equipment and conducts demonstrations, where required, under direct supervision.
· Undertakes relevant occupational health and safety requirements and, where necessary, risk assessments within the relative work area.
· Undertakes low/medium risk tasks as defined by the Departmental Risk Matrix or its successor.
Responsibilities· Perform routine tasks in preparation for science practical classes including:
Setting up laboratory equipment and instrumentation.Clearing away equipment and materials after use and checking that laboratories are maintained in a safe, clean and ready to use condition.Checking and maintaining equipment in working order and effecting simple repairs where possible.Preparing chemicals and other laboratory solutions.Assisting in safe storage, handling and disposal of hazardous and dangerous goods.Maintenance of SDSs.· Ensure an adequate supply of laboratory materials and equipment, including:
Maintaining a record of faulty equipment and breakages.Assisting with the ordering of supplies.Checking deliveries and storing appropriately.Maintaining records of stock in hand.Assisting with faculty inventory and stock take.· Performing routine photocopying and audiovisual tasks as required.
· Assist teaching staff with enforcement of appropriate safety measures in line with Occupational Health and Safety Policy.
· Assist with the consultation with students in respect to their equipment needs for science projects.
· Assist with the collection of off-campus materials.
Possession of a current Victorian motor vehicle driver's licence is desirable as this would assist with the collection of off-campus materials and class materials for the purpose of class assignments.
· Assist with the use of computers within the science department, both for record keeping and as used in classroom experiments.
· Perform routine clerical duties.
· Assist in field and laboratory tests and the collection of data.
· Assist in the analysis of field and laboratory tests.
· Care and maintenance of Science Centre animals: Purchasing food, feeding, cleaning cages.
· Any other duties normally performed by an Education Support Officer 1 Range 2 as required.
