Provides state-wide authoritative counsel in matters relating to Microbiology, to stakeholders both within and outside of the discipline and represent Microbiology on relevant and appropriate internal and external committees and forums in a manner that enhances the reputation of Pathology Queensland.Provide strategic planning and management of Pathology Queensland - Central Microbiology laboratories, including forecasting of space, staff and equipment needs in the future as the service develops.Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:Demonstrated competence in the scientific, research, developmental and clinical interpretive aspects of Microbiology and ability to provide focussed service and liaise with clinical and managerial staff in the implementation and provision of integrated pathology service meeting the requirements of the relevant Health Service.Demonstrated advanced negotiation, consultative, communication and interpersonal skills with both internal and external clients in the provision of a client focussed area.Demonstrated ability to manage an integrated pathology service of a complex nature to ensure the maintenance of legislative, administrative and professional clinical standards using established principles / procedures.Demonstrated personal qualities of leadership and a high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in the management of human, financial and physical resources of a large Microbiology pathology laboratory in line with the strategic direction of Pathology Queensland.Qualifications, registrations and other requirementsBachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) degree or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
