The opportunity – Novaskill, in partnership with Walcha Council, is excited to offer a Parks and Gardens Apprenticeship.
This is your chance to gain hands-on experience, build valuable connections in the horticulture industry, and receive ongoing mentoring and support as you grow your career.
As an apprentice, you'll undertake a nationally recognised Certificate II in Parks and Gardens, blending hands-on experience with professional guidance to equip you for success in this dynamic and fulfilling industry.
Learnings – Identify plants and understand how best to tend to themImplement a plant nutrition programUse your keen eye to troubleshoot and report on plant healthConduct specialist transplanting, pruning and mowing operationsControl weeds, plant pests, diseases and disordersImprove soil qualityOutcomes – Experience working on parks and gardens constructed or rejuvenated in an outdoor spaceThe opportunity to visit botanic gardens, parks, campus surroundings or nurseries through excursions to support your learningThe ability to conduct specialist pruning techniques on a range of vines, hedges and small treesThe opportunity to become affiliated with the Australian Institute of Horticulture upon graduatingApprenticeship Suitability Recommendations – An interest in the natural environmentComfortability working outdoors, in different environments, terrains and in a range of weather conditionsA reasonable level of fitness to use wheelbarrows, do repetitive lifting and be on your feet for long periodsLiteracy, numeracy and computer literacy at Year 10 levelAbout You – Demonstrated commitment to completing your study whilst balancing workingTime management, attention to detail, planning and organisational skillsWillingness to work hard and complete the jobWhite Card is essentialManual Drivers Licence & Reliable Transport is desirableExperience is advantageousIf you're interested in the role, reach out to our GTO Recruitment Team to request more information – ****** Alternatively, please apply directly via Seek.
