About the Role Expression of Interest Opportunity are being sought for a fixed term position of Lawyer (Group Proceedings, Major Torts & Professional Liability) - Common Law Division - VPS 4 - Full-time, Fixed-term from as soon as possible to 31 January 2025.
The CLD is seeking a Lawyer (Group Proceedings, Major Torts & Professional Liability) that provides expert legal and case management support to judicial officers in the Common Law Division, in particular to the Principal Judge of the Division, in the management of the Group Proceedings List in which large scale and often high profile, complex common law group proceedings are managed. They also provide such support to the Judges in Charge of the Major Torts List and the Professional Liability List and the other judicial officers who hear and determine matters within all three of these specialist lists.
The role also involves the formulation and implementation of best practices, procedures and policies for the management of the lists, analysing legal issues in particularly complex or sensitive matters, and providing the Judicial Registrar, Registrar of the CLD and Judges-in-Charge of the lists with appropriate information and assistance.
Tertiary qualifications in law, preferably admitted to practice. Experience in group proceedings is highly desirable.
