Cairns School of Distance Education are seeking a Head of Department (Secondary) to join their school community on a full-time temporary basis, until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined. Please note that this position is based in Cairns.
Cairns School ofDistance Education offers educational services to home based and school based learners from prep to year 12. The school's culture is characterised by the provision of individualised curriculum and high levels of educational support, achieved through close professional workingrelationships with students and home tutors.

About Cairns School of Distance Education Cairns School of Distance Education (CSDE) is a Queensland state school offering educational services to home-based and school-based learners from Prep to Year 12.

About the Role As the HOD of Humanities you will be responsible for working with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to contribute to the school's priorities, improvement agenda and culture.
Working as part of the school's leadership team you will be instrumental in developing growth mindsets, improved pedagogical practices, curriculum knowledge of teachers and curriculum development within your learning area. Your success will come from your ability to develop and nurture positive working relationships with and between students, parents and staff in a large and diverse school community.
The successful applicant will have responsibility for: Leading the learning area's curriculum development and implementation within school and departmental initiatives Working collaboratively with all members of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to enact the School Philosophy and Strategic Plan. Actively participating in learning, research and ongoing professional development that enable you to improve both as a leader and a classroom teacher. Setting and maintaining high standards for student performance by leading the learning area to uphold the spirit of the Cairns School of Distance Education with a specific focus on improving learning outcomes and fostering a growth mindset. Leading calibration and moderation practices that build strong alignment between curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
