We need a strong leader to prepare and present strategic advice at a senior level relating to sensitive industrial relationsissues and lead advocacy on behalf of the department in major conciliation and arbitration proceedings before industrial tribunals open for expressions of interest.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About the Role
As the Director, Employee Relations, you will:
Demonstrate excellent people skills, leading a team of professionals in the delivery of industrial and employee relations services to the department.
Lead the development and provision of strategic employee and industrial relations advice and services for the Department of Education.
Provide timely, strategic advice and options to senior managers on a diverse range of complex industrial relations issues, negotiations and disputes as well as strategies to improve the industrial relations climate for the department.
Develop and implement a coordinated, integrated multi-team approach to employee and industrial relations across the various divisions of the department.
Lead high level arbitration proceedings in industrial tribunals and where necessary advocate the department's position on employee related matters brought before tribunals including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
A legal background would be of benefit.
