We seek to provide excellence in medical education and training delivered in the context of Catholic faith and values, with respect for human life, dignity and social justice.About the role/ Position PurposeThe School seeks expressions of interest from Masters level in public health or equivalent, registered medical practitioners or PhD qualified candidates who have a passion for teaching. Teaching opportunities are available on a sessional basis in School of Medicine Doctor of Medicine, Graduate Certificate, and Graduate Diploma programs.At times we are seeking sessionals with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:Health SciencesMedical SciencesHealth LeadershipEnvironmental and Sustainable HealthKey ResponsibilitiesConduct teaching to the standard of the Faculty. This includes preparation for the topic and facilitating group discussions relating to the content.Consultation with students in relation to readings, weekly topics and assessment.Participating in assessment activities, including marking and providing feedback.Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct, in particular the Staff Code of Conduct.Undertake Professional Development as arranged by the Head of Foundation Years.Provision of a high level of pastoral care to students.Selection CriteriaEssentialSupportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.Understanding of, and commitment to, teaching in the context of the Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia.Qualifications & ExperiencePossession of a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing.A high level of interest in medical education and experience in teaching in small group tutorials.A keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice.Ability to, or a willingness to learn how to, incorporate technology (e.g. Blackboard, Zoom, email, internet) into teaching and learning.Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team.Ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students.Applicants are expected to address all selection criteria in their Cover Letter and have current and valid work rights in Australia.
