About the Role Reporting to the Environment & Heritage Manager, this is a rare opportunity to work with a small team and be involved in a number of exciting projects in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia.
As Environmental Superintendent, you will:
Demonstrate ability to be able to work independently to establish systems and processes to capture, monitor and report all compliance activities for the Project under various legislative requirements. Assist site management with forward planning, including but not limited to interpretation of project permit obligations, future approvals planning and problem solving. Coordinate site environmental monitoring programs and associated data collection, management and analysis in accordance with statutory environmental obligations. Assist with the development of environmental documentation and prepare and assist with the submission of internal and statutory environmental reporting activities, such as NPI, NGERS, MRF, Compliance Assessments, AERs etc.. Contribute to the continuous improvement of EMS and overall environmental performance and management. Provide assistance with developing and managing annual operational, capital and rehabilitation budgets and daily expenditure for the site. Assist with environment and heritage approval applications, as required. Be a mentor to the site based Environmental team and provide general environmental advice and support to site-based exploration and operational personnel. About the opportunity: This role is a site based position but can be flexible, offered on either 8/6 or 4/3 FIFO roster with opportunities to work in the Perth corporate office. About the Person Desired 5 – 10 years' experience in an environmental role within the resources industry or an associated government department. A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science (or a related discipline). Driver's License (C Class, Manual Car) is essential. Knowledge and applications of the Western Australian and Commonwealth environmental regulatory framework including:
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999; PtV and PtIV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986; Mining Act 1978; Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914; Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016; and The Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972. An understanding and practical implementation of Environmental Management Systems. Ability and motivation to guide and mentor junior environmental staff. Solid communication skills required to engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders. Shortlisting for this role will commence immediately.
