Environmental Scientist

We have a position available for an environmental scientist or engineer with an interest in wastewater and stormwater management. We are a small consulting company with specific expertise in on-site wastewater management, but also cross over with stormwater management and erosion and sediment control. We prepare reports that assess and design on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems in unsewered areas. Typically, our reports are for residential dwellings, tourist cabins, subdivisions, function centers, as well as non-domestic wastewater from wineries and breweries.
The ideal candidate will have some understanding of why and how wastewater needs to be managed to protect water quality. This role involves understanding how soils and physical geography may impact approval for effluent disposal.
You will be working with a team of three other wastewater consultants in our Shellharbour office, which is conveniently located opposite Shellharbour Square. The position requires technical expertise for report writing, good interpersonal skills, the ability to write clear concise emails, undertake problem solving, and understand the broader NSW planning laws that relate to our work. You will need to work to tight deadlines, manage client needs that cannot always be met, adhere to budgets, and possess telephone communication skills along with basic IT skills. Basic experience with Word & Excel is also required. Some field work is to be expected, but is not a standard requirement.
We will provide training in all aspects of the role including the use of QGIS and CAD for drawing site plans. A driver's license and right to work in Australia is essential.
