Jacobs has provided professional services to the Australian Department of Defence since 1997.
Our services include strategic advisory services, capability development, program and project management, acquisition and sustainment support, commercial management, and training development.
Our Defence and Regional Security (DRS) team is growing, and we are recruiting for an Environmental Scientist to join the Canberra team.
As an Environmental Scientist in Defence and Regional Security (DRS), you will take an active role in leading the delivery of projects.
This will include supporting the successful management and co-ordination of environmental assessments, field sampling programs, and report writing.
You will seek to provide mentoring to graduates in the team in relation to the broad skills required of a consultant, both technical and softer skills.
You will take an active role in business development, responsible for helping to build/sustain client relationships that secure repeat work.
More specifically, this role will include the following tasks:
Planning and execution of simple to moderately complex projects, providing technical guidance to support others on such projects as well as performing project management and client-facing roles where appropriate.
You will be supported by senior technical and project delivery leaders and will support more junior members of the team.In-depth knowledge of the Commonwealth regulatory framework and familiarity with the technical elements of the environmental assessment processes within your State or Territory, and a familiarity with the corresponding elements in other regions.Leading simple pursuits as appropriate and providing support as a bid team member for the pursuit of more complex opportunities.You will provide support to more senior staff in moderately complex and complex projects.
It is an essential requirement of these roles that applicants must be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (hold Australian Citizenship).

Relevant Tertiary Degree.Attention to detail and an appetite to learn and develop technical skills relevant to environmental assessment.Desire to understand the needs and goals of our clients and work collaboratively in a leading role as part of a team to achieve these.Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (requires Australian Citizenship).Jacobs is a world where you can grow.
