Permanent, Full Time Band 6, $112,471.73 inclusive of on-call allowance, leave loading, private use vehicle & super Flexible option for 9 day fortnight Darebin City Council has an exciting opportunity for a role to work within our Health Protection Unit in delivering good public health outcomes to the community.
Working alongside a positive team, we are seeking a motivated and qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHO) with recent experience in the assessment of premises registered under Food and Public Health & Wellbeing Acts.
The incumbent will have excellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously with minimal supervision.

About the Role The role plays a pivotal part within the Health Protection team in the delivery of statutory services.
The role requires excellent communication skills to liaise across various stakeholders in the community.
Undertake risk based inspections of premises to ensure that all requirements are in accordance with relevant Acts, Codes and Guidelines.
Complete investigations and determine any further action with nuisance complaints.
Lead an annual project portfolio and provide specialist advice as required to the organisation and community.
Document and maintain accurate records of inspections.
Liaise within the Health Protection Unit and other council business units as required Provide accurate technical advice to the public, including email and telephone enquiries.
Skills & Experience Degree or Diploma of Health Science (Public & Environmental Health) or equivalent with relevant work experience.
The incumbent should be eligible to be a member of the Environmental Health Professionals Australia.
Demonstrated recent experience in this role, preferably in a local government environment.
Excellent problem solving and time management skills Computer proficiency in Open Office Health Manager – Mobile Health and the ability to complete work in a digital environment.
