What we are looking for: Strong communicator to join a developing and supportive team within the Public Health and Environmental Health Compliance field.
What your day will look like: You will undertake a diverse range of duties across the Fraser Coast, ensuring the health and safety of the public in a variety of contexts.
Some of the key responsibilities include; Conducting relevant inspections, investigations, sampling and compliance actions in relation to Public Health, Environmental Health and Dangerous Goods Safety Management.
Assess and determine compliance of relevant licensed premises / Activities including customer requests and initiate appropriate action to ensure compliance when required.
Manage / Supervise the application, approval and compliance issues associated with regulated activities deemed to be "significant" Exercise authorised powers and functions in the administration and enforcement of relevant local laws and Acts relating to nuisances.
Provide proactive technical advice, monitoring and guidance relative to interpretation and communication of Environmental Health legislation.
Deliver education and awareness information to relevant stakeholders via a range of media.
This role requires frequent travel across the Fraser Coast region to fulfill duties, with your base located in Hervey Bay.
You will work collaboratively with local businesses, residents, and government agencies to protect public health and maintain high safety standards throughout the region.

What you'll need for success: Currently hold or is currently enrolled and actively completing a Degree in Applied Science(Environmental Health)or qualification allowing eligibility for professional membership of Environmental Health Australia https://www.eh.org.au/workforce/accredited- courses Demonstrated experience in the technical components of Environmental Health including the use of required equipment and an understanding of relevant legislation and local laws and the ability to apply this to real world situations Ability in exercising judgement in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
Intermediate skills and knowledge in the effective utilisation of data systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and Power Point) Experience with compliance complaints handling and or investigations.
High level of communication skills and the ability to influence and educate to encourage voluntary compliance .
Ability to provide consistently high level of internal and external customer service.
