The Company Pastoral Partners Australia (PPA) is a pastoral landholder that supports external animal grazing operations, generates high integrity Australian Carbon Credit Units from native vegetation regeneration projects, and seeks to improve biodiversity and animal welfare outcomes. The Position In line with continued growth, PPA now seeks an Environmental Field Officer to join the team to work closely with the Chief Carbon Scientist, focusing on the coordination and monitoring of carbon and sustainability projects. PPA own and manage numerous pastoral properties in SE QLD and are in the process of acquiring more. This strategy is part of a broader picture for the organisation, to develop assets that promote and maintain sustainable and productive grazing/farming enterprises integrated within a regenerative farming system.
In this role you will be the link between the assets and head office and liaise regularly with farm management, the Chief Carbon Scientist, and third-party service providers to ensure projects are being run effectively. You will play a pivotal role in 'ground truthing' potential and existing vegetation projects and biodiversity projects across the existing owned properties and the acquisition targets.
Principal activities will include: Field based botanical survey work, including vegetation and ecological mappingFlora and Fauna survey workResearching and assisting with sustainability initiativesSupporting and advising land and resource managersAssessing the ability for project areas to regenerate and reach forest cover as defined by Kyoto Protocol.Ecological monitoring, design and implementation of monitoring programsPreparation and delivery of technical reportsThe Person We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following key background, skills, and key attributes:
