About the opportunity: We have a superb, Marulan-based opportunity for an Environmental Coordinator with our Aggregates business. This key role is based at the Lynwood Quarry, which is our largest in Australia, and your key responsibility will be to monitor and report on the data that impacts the quarry environmental license - ensuring environmental compliance is managed effectively, including the implementation of effective management systems, and internal and external reporting.
You will liaise with the environmental management team, assist in audits and incident management, help to drive continuous improvement, and ensure practical effective environmental management measures including weed and pest control are completed.
You will also manage and participate in the Aboriginal Heritage Management Committee and ensure close liaison with a wide range of other community groups.
Additional and detailed accountabilities are found in the Position Description which is available upon request and will include:
Ensuring environmental compliance is managed effectively for the quarry including the implementation of effective management systems.Assisting in site audits against site compliance requirements.Providing relevant input into the operation in relation to risk and compliance matters and overseeing relevant projects in these areas.Liaising with government authorities when required and supervising relevant actions associated with this.Preparing and submitting annual returns and reports for the site to the applicable government authorities.Managing the Community Consultative Committee for the site and participating in meetings as the company's community liaison representative.About you: To succeed in this important role, a degree in Environmental Sciences, Geo Sciences, or a related discipline is preferred but it is not essential if you have proven experience in a similar role within the quarrying industry.
You should have a working knowledge of NSW Planning & Environmental Legislation and the Development Approval Process. Experience with Environmental Management Plans and understanding of relevant NSW environmental legislation will hold you in good stead. You may, however, be a Graduate, embarking on your career and be keen to learn and apply the legislation and develop your hands-on experience.
High proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, and other systems required to do the role effectively are required, and you will be assisted by your strong interpersonal and communication skills and by your understanding of the importance of and ability to effectively communicate and build relationships within the business.
