This iconic Australian business is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to provide sound support and advice for the business units across NSW. Reporting into the Environment Manager NSW, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that environmental compliance and risk matters are managed effectively throughout the region.
About the Position
The role is part of a broader national Environment team supporting the businesses' operational activities across Australia. The role will focus on helping to deliver environmental risk management through the management of a number of key projects.
This broad role has a number of key scope areas including:
Implementing strategies to ensure compliance with statutory requirementsFacilitating reporting, investigation, and management of environmental incidentsAssisting with the development, planning, and preparation of Environmental action plans for the various sites business unitsThe maintenance of the ongoing license to operate and development of a high performing cultureWorking with key stakeholders to develop and implement improvement initiatives and technical programs of workEngaging with the environmental regulators to ensure strong working relationshipsAbout You
You enjoy being in a role where you are the first point of contact in providing environmental advice across a range of high-risk operating locations, and across a diverse workforce. You enjoy getting out on site and are proactive in your approach to supporting the business as you collaborate to understand their challenges, both current and future, and take accountability for helping people in understanding their responsibilities in relation to the environment.
You are well versed in environmental compliance with relevant environmental authorities including the management of permits and licensing requirements.
Ideally, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalentPrevious experience in blue-collar, high-risk industry environments is ideal but not necessaryExcellent written communication and report writing skillsStrong time management, organisational skills, and attention to detailAbout the Benefits
