We are looking for an Environmental Advisor to work within the Rio Tinto Energy and Climate (RTEC) group and work collaboratively across the business to deliver on our climate commitments while ensuring our business is well positioned for the future low-carbon economy. Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with Rio Tinto HSEQ Management Standards, contractual requirements, legal obligations, and other relevant regulations.Optimise key business processes to strengthen connections between RTEC, Business Units, and stakeholders.Provide specialist environmental advice to Senior Management and Project Managers, including guidance on risk assessment methods and impact mitigation strategies.Conduct proactive risk reviews, audits, and due diligence missions to address environmental hazards and ensure alignment with the mitigation hierarchy.Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and mitigate risks and impacts to nature within the value chain.Support strategic environmental initiatives, including reviews, design input, and best practice sharing across group and local projects.Assist in developing and implementing strategies focused on decarbonization, renewable energy, and improved environmental and social performance.Work with global teams to ensure compliance with region-specific environmental regulations and address the intersection of environmental and social performance risks.What you'll bringA commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.Previous experience in an environmental role, preferably in a project environment or working closely with contractors.Knowledge of decarbonisation strategies and renewable energy initiatives.Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Experience in reviewing contracts and contractor documentation for environmental compliance is highly desirable.Open to ad-hoc travel if required.What we offerBe recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progress.A work environment where safety is always the number one priority.A permanent position working directly for Rio Tinto.A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive program.Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family.Attractive share ownership plan.Company provided insurance cover.Extensive salary sacrifice & salary packaging options.Career development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions.Ongoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing support.Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave).Exclusive employee discounts (banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more).Domestic relocation assistance.Applications close on Monday the 13th January 2025 (Rio Tinto reserves the right to remove advertised roles prior to this date).
