We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Environmental Advisor to join our Environment and Sustainability team.The Environment Advisor role is focused on providing advice to Melbourne Airport Management to meet its environmental obligations under the Airports (Environment Protection) Regulations 1997 and associated Commonwealth and State legislation.This role works closely within the business such as planning, development and aviation teams as well as with the Commonwealth regulator. The Airport Environment Advisor will be responsible for compliant delivery of the design and construction Projects. The Environmental Advisor will focus on the continuous improvement and implementation of the environmental management system, conduct environmental monitoring, investigate incidents and participate in improvement projects on site.Melbourne Airport is at the forefront of a dynamic expansion, poised to support the city's ascent to become Australia's largest city within the next decade. Join us in shaping the future of aviation as we propel Melbourne Airport towards becoming Australia's favourite Airport destination.Key responsibilities:Provide technical advice to Melbourne Airport Management and Project teams to meet its environmental obligations under the Airports (Environment Protection) Regulations 1997 and associated Commonwealth and State legislation.Provide advice to Melbourne Airport stakeholders and contractors about construction environmental management. This includes review of construction and operational environment management plans, completing site environmental inspections, negotiating practical solutions to meet compliance and fostering a positive environmental culture.Educate the business around environmental risks and obligations and implement effective controls to manage these risks within the operations.Support the Environment and Sustainability Team to implement relevant environment and sustainability strategies across the business.Ensure sustainability in design by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate sustainability in design measures for capital projects and deliver sustainability performance improvements.Delivery of environmental approvals or permits for project works as per business needs under the guidance of the Environment Manager (Compliance and Approvals).Conduct regular site inspections and monitoring activities to ensure environmental controls are effective and operational performance is optimised.Collect and analyze environmental data and work with Sustainability Analyst to prepare reports, and provide recommendations for improvement.The successful candidate will have:Degree in Environmental Engineering / Science (or similar).A minimum of 3+ years experience in environmental management or consultant roles, preferably in the infrastructure or construction sector.Experience in contaminated land investigations and fieldwork including the management of contaminated land projects, groundwater and surface water assessment and management.Knowledge of environment regulations, impact assessment methodologies and sustainability best practices.Experience in interpreting and applying Commonwealth and State Environmental Legislation.Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Project management skills including experience managing technical consultants, budgets and site works.Experience in the application of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001 EMS Standards) desired.Strong understanding of current regulatory and site management requirements.We understand that not everyone will feel they meet all of these 100%.
