The Environment Department is seeking skilled environment artists to join our dynamic team. As part of the team, you'll solve large-scale spatial problems collaboratively with procedural and handcrafted approaches — utilizing your expertise in Houdini, and generalist skills across various applications, to construct stunning, photo-realistic environments that push the boundaries of complexity, efficiency, and quality. Employment period: Long Term Contract Location: Adelaide or Brisbane, Australia. This position is open to Australian and International Applications. VISA and relocation assistance provided where applicable. Responsibilities: Produce environment assets and layouts through procedural setups that meet the creative and technical requirements of your task Contribute procedural and handcrafted elements using generalist skills appropriate to the task Collaborate with leads to establish methodology, and communicate insights effectively Ensure you understand how your task fits into the larger shared task of creating a complete environment Ensure output data meets downstream requirements and follow review procedures Present work for feedback and contribute to departmental development Provide feedback to improve workflows and tools Proactively work as a team, listening openly to the ideas of others Required Skills and Experience: Proficiency in Houdini Sufficient expertise in SOPs to produce a procedural asset generator - e.g. for buildings, trees, etc. that outputs a set of detailed assets based on differing input geometry and/or seeds, and to the skills to adjust it based on art direction and technical needs A generalist skill set that includes proficiency in several of the following: hard surface modelling, texture painting, shader building, lighting, coding in VEX/Python, and 3D DMP techniques Additional software proficiency in at least one of the following: Maya, Katana, Mari, Nuke, Speed Tree, Blender, Zbrush, and Gaea Strong communication and collaboration skills Showreel Guidance A strong showreel will include examples from production and/or personal work, showcasing: Varied environments, e.g.: landscape, urban, realistic, fantasy, etc. Shots/breakdowns/turntables that show the result of procedural setups you've created, e.g. buildings, trees, road networks, city layouts, bridges, etc. Single shots that display your generalist work across multiple disciplines, e.g. your modelling, lookdev and layout in one shot.
