Environment and Community Manager position in the Hunter Valley at the highly regarded Mount Pleasant Operation Work with a great team of people in a fantastic location Relocation assistance provided to Muswellbrook region About the client: MACH Energy's Mount Pleasant Operation is a relatively new coal mine that commenced operations in Q4 2017. Located near Muswellbrook, the operation has successfully ramped up to 10.5 Mtpa (ROM) of high-quality thermal coal whilst achieving outstanding safety, environmental, and community outcomes via a "One Team" mentality adopted by employees, business partners, contractors, and suppliers.
With an impending growth phase and associated capital projects, MACH Energy's winning team is looking to bring on an experienced Environment and Community Manager.
About the role: Reporting to the General Manager - Operations, the Environment and Community Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management plans and community engagement strategies that align with MACH Energy's commitment to sustainable mining practices.
This role involves providing professional and technical advice on effective management of environmental and community matters, championing continual improvement, and supporting and maintaining the company's social license to operate. The ideal candidate will be proactive, with a strong background in environmental science and community relations, dedicated to fostering positive environmental and social outcomes.
About you: The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor of Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science 10+ years' experience as an environmental practitioner within the resources sector. 5+ years' experience in a leadership role including managing community stakeholder relationships. Knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and approvals processes relevant to the resources sector. Demonstrated ability to manage environmental and community matters, while ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements. Previous experience in the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems. Extensive contract management and project management experience.
