About the Program The Women Children and Family Health Service aims to support safe nurturing environments for pregnant women, infants, and children, increase uptake and utilisation of services with an emphasis on early intervention and prevention, provide streamlined coordinated care and positive experiences for clients to encourage continued engagement with services.
Job Description About the Role Working in collaboration with the Endorsed Community Midwife and under the broad direction of the Team Manager, Strong Mums Solid Kids, the primary role of the Enrolled Nurse is and not limited to:
• Work collaboratively to ensure the delivery of high quality and culturally safe maternal, infant and child care
Engage clients early in health care, monitor healthy growth and development, including physical, social and emotional wellbeing, provide health education and information to promote good health and development, and protection from preventative infections and disease Perform tasks of a sensitive nature requiring the exercise of judgement, initiative and confidentiality Support internal and external referrals and ongoing engagement with a range of social and specialist services as needed Support engagement of individuals and families in opportunities to access information, resources and share experiences through group activity, community support networks and other relevant services Maintain a positive working relationship with others and contribute to organisational activities Ensure compliance with a range of administrative practices which support Maternal and Child Health Services and Nunkuwarrin Yunti as an Organisation, including accreditation. Desired Skills and Experience Selection Criteria Essential Selection Criteria Minimum of a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Clinical) or AHPRA Registered Enrolled Nurse. Minimum of (3) three years of demonstrated vocational experience in the relevant health field consistent with the position's role and responsibilities Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary issues facing Aboriginal people and the impacts these issues have on Indigenous Australian societies and cultures; Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people Well-developed clinical skills with a general knowledge of maternal, infant and / or child and family health Experience in the use of electronic client health information management systems (e.g.
Communicare, Medical Director or other) Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues which may impact on maternal child and family wellbeing Sound knowledge of best practice approaches to comprehensive primary health care Demonstrated ability to undertake various health work activities requiring a sound knowledge of work processes, including quality improvement activities Proven well-developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and network effectively with a range of health professionals and administrative staff Demonstrated ability to function within a complex busy workplace and respond to difficult and/or stressful situations in a calm, sensitive and professional manner Organisational skills, self-confidence and the ability to work independently and autonomously, assess priorities, organise workload and meet deadlines Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to workplace diversity, workplace participation, Work Health and Safety Desirable Selection Criteria Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service or Primary Health Care setting Knowledge of existing social / health issues within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Aboriginal culture, social behaviour and aspirations of Aboriginal people Experience using the Communicare patient recall information system or any similar system Experience in continuous quality improvement activities including clinical file auditing Applications close 09 December 2024
