Enrolled Nurse - AOD Rehabilitation Facility Posted: 02/11/2024 Closing Date: 04/12/2024 Job Type: Part-time Job Category: Nursing Exciting permanent/part-time (0.7 FTE) opportunity for an Enrolled Nurse to support admissions, intake and discharge of residents at a 24/7 AOD Rehabilitation Facility. Located 10 minutes from Pakenham on a 40-acre property with beautiful, serene landscapes. Part-time working hours - Monday to Wednesday 9:00am to 5:00pm with a Sunday shift once per fortnight working 8:00am to 4:00pm. Windana. Providing connected services to more people in need. We provide services across Victoria for adults and young people experiencing alcohol and other drug harms, family violence, mental health challenges and social disadvantage.  Our Model of Care puts clients at the centre of what we do to create positive change in people's lives. We work with families, communities and other organisations to deliver trauma informed, equitable, culturally safe and integrated services based on evidence and practice wisdom. About the Program Maryknoll Therapeutic Community (MTC) is a 77-bed facility that provides a safe space for residents to recover and heal by exploring their own life experiences and learning from the experience and insights of others. About the role Contribute to admission process, treatment planning, treatment program delivery and discharge process to ensure clients have a safe and effective experience in Windana's care. Conduct nursing physical assessment, noting any pre-existing medical conditions and their treatment and monitor these conditions throughout the clients stay. Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for clients identified at risk to themselves and/or others ensuring high risk situations are escalated appropriately and managed safely. Assist clinicians, support workers and Assistant Manager in the running of the Welcome house, contributing to the efficient management and organisation of Maryknoll Therapeutic Community. Coordinate discharge plans and referrals to other service providers, ensuring discharge summaries are completed and provided to the client's regular GP. Recognise deterioration in client condition and contribute to the provision of safe and effective emergency care if necessary. What we're looking for: Demonstrated experience working within the alcohol and drug sector, mental health or other primary health care environment with an understanding of AOD service navigation with complex needs. Experience in conducting drug and alcohol withdrawal and physical assessments. Knowledge of contemporary standards and evidence-based practice and interventions in AOD context. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group of people. Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) within the Australian Health Practitioner. Diploma in Nursing & completion of 4 AOD core competencies, or willingness to work towards core competencies during employment within an 18-month period.
