Northholm Grammar is an independent K-12 co-educational school situated in a beautiful and inspiring semi-rural environment at Arcadia in the north-west of Sydney. We are seeking an outstanding and experienced English teacher to join our collegial and dynamic Humanities Department from the start of Term 1, 2025.
This position reports to the Head of Humanities and ultimately the Principal.
The applicant must: satisfy the requirements of NESA to teach in NSW schools.have proven ability to teach English at a Senior level with HSC level experience.have extensive knowledge of the syllabus documents and underpinning pedagogical principles.possess a strong work ethic and organisational skills.have a record of consistent and excellent results.be an outstanding classroom practitioner.demonstrate proficiency in accordance with the National Teaching Standards.demonstrate a diverse range of teaching approaches to cater to a range of learning abilities and styles.be able to work under pressure.fulfil the pastoral role of Tutor within our house-based pastoral system and meeting the social and emotional wellbeing needs of students.The ideal candidate would: be a vibrant and inspiring teacher.have experience in HSC marking and delivery of English curriculum.be creative in the use of technology and the development of resources including written materials.incorporate use of technology into programs to facilitate and enrich student learning and engagement.support and implement programs such as Study Skills and Literacy Across the Curriculum.take particular care in the preparation of programs and teaching materials, and understand the importance of meticulous marking and record keeping.participate in the broader Humanities, and wider School community.take an active and positive role within the Humanities Department.be willing to assist with co-curricular activities.have a strong understanding of, and commitment to, the educational needs of boys and girls.initiate extracurricular activities to expand student educational experiences and promote a love of English.be able to identify the individual needs of students and adjust teaching strategies to provide individualised care.Applicants should possess the following: Accredited 4 years of study at a recognised University or Higher Education institution in relevant subject/s with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), or a combined or double degree such as a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) ORUndergraduate degree (such as a Bachelor of Arts) and an accredited graduate entry teaching degree (such as a Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary).Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at the level required of all school staff.Applications, including resume, cover letter, copies of qualifications and the names and contact details of three referees, should be addressed to the Principal and submitted via email: .
