About Blackwater Mine:
Situated 73 kms south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of approximately 70 kms. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using 7 draglines with associated truck/shovel prestrip and coal mining.

About the Role: Whitehaven Coal is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mining Engineer working on site at our Blackwater Mine in the Bowen Basin. Reporting to the Superintendent – Mine Scheduling, the role will work with a team of Engineers to produce optimised schedules that will enable operations to deliver superior performance.
What You'll Do:
Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders and customers to discuss and develop mine plan inputs, review mining sequences, support the management of equipment interaction and produce a set of plan outputs that enable the operations team to understand and value the mine plan;
Participate in site safety routines and demonstrate a proactive safety culture;
Deliver a weekly mine schedule to maximise value and meet business objectives;
Communicate equipment interactions and enabling activities in the mine schedule;
Deliver a weekly haulage plan to the operations team;
Monitor monthly compliance to plan and design compliance;
Integrate the weekly mine schedule into a rolling 18 month mine plan;
What You'll Bring:
Tertiary education in mining engineering or equivalent.
Experience working as a mining engineer.
Strong working knowledge of Spry, Deswik, 3D Dig (preferred but not essential).
Exceptional communication skills.
High levels of organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
